I first thought about mentioning this next item on my personal blog page, but decided maybe it belonged here instead.
It seems that a preacher in Waco, Texas (click here for the story) was electrocuted this past Sunday while performing a baptisim when he grabbed a microphone while in the baptismal pool. It says they routinely use microphones during baptisms there, but apparently this one had a bad ground.
Something like this probably wouldn't be a problem at Sunshine since we use wireless mikes, but it's certainly something that any of our number that regularly do baptisms should remember in case they're called to do so at a different location.
Certainly a tragic event and my heart goes out to his family and the congregation there. I suppose it's ironic, but I don't suppose there would be a better time to go than while following the Lord's command to baptise.

Was the person being baptized already in the water with them too? If not, I would imagine it is pretty terrible for that person to deal with feelings of guilt. They may be thinking "If I didn't decide to be baptized today, this wouldn't have happened." We should pray for that poor person...that is if they're still alive.
I guess that's what you call a REAL HOMECOMING! I'm glad it was the preacher and not the baptizee, now wouldn't that be a theological debate for years to come!
Actually, if it were the baptizee rather than the baptizer, he would fall under the "thief on the cross" clause and therefore be saved
And the debate begins....
The article says the person being baptised wasn't injured but it doesn't specify whether they were in the water yet or not. The current from the mike would have traveled thru the preacher's arm to the water, so as long as the person being baptised didn't touch the mike, the preacher, or get out of the water they would probably be okay.
