Just out of curiosity, I typed in "God" on dictionary.com to see how one would describe it/Him. I am a believer of the fact that words cannot truly define or describe God. I'm a woman of many words (and usually spoken quite quickly) but this is one area where God completely shuts my mouth because I just can't wrap my mind around His presence.
1. God
a.) A being conceived as the perfect, omnipotent, omniscient originator and ruler of the universe, the principal object of faith and worship in monotheistic religions.
b.) The force, effect, or a manifestation or aspect of this being.
2. A being of supernatural powers or attributes, believed in and worshiped by a people, especially a male deity thought to control some part of nature or reality.
3. An image of a supernatural being; an idol.
4. One that is worshiped, idealized, or followed: Money was their god.
5. A very handsome man.
6. A powerful ruler or despot.
Ok. Number 3 makes me think about how many of us that have little angel dolls in our homes or angel pins we wear on our coats or clothing. What about pictures of Jesus (we think we know what He looks like). I would say this is why we don't have a cross in our church building to look at. I think the danger in creating something to "remind us of heaven" is the fact that God doesn't want us to place importance on anyone or anything we simply make with our own hands. Like I said earlier, God cannot be described. He cannot be captured and placed inside a bottle or placed on a canvas. He's much too big! There is great danger in #3! God is GOD and we shall have no other gods before Him.
