"And yet humility is at the heart of a good debate, for only the humble hear what the other is saying, and only the humble actually want to learn." Bill Gnade
The above quote is from today's post at Contratimes. Let me encourage you to follow the link and read it for yourself. The "debate" has challenged me, yet again, to be wary of the tendency to cling to simple understandings. Also, Bill has broadened the focus from content alone to include an appreciation of the process-level dynamics. Go read it, it will be well worth your while.
How did the reading impact you?

It was eye opening to me and I really enjoyed it! I've noticed over the years that there are things that I've become "aware of" spiritually that I have never read about in the scriptures prior to "the spiritual experience or knowledge". I have not read the entire bible through as of yet so there are many things I am not aware of at the moment...and yet there are. One way or another, God will speak to me what He needs me to know whether I read it in His words from the Bible or by Him telling or showing me directly.
I feel that Bill spoke very clearly and am glad I read his post!
Great job explaining things, Bill!
My dear Zoe's Mom, and Jason,
Thank you both for your kind words and encouragement. I am very nervous putting myself "out there" like that, because I know that theology issues are very sensitive. To receive such grace from you lightens my heart. Thank you.
Bill Gnade
You are very welcome, Bill.
You don't have to call me "Zoe's mom" if you don't want to. "Jennifer" is fine. ;)
Jen
OK, Jennifer. Thanks.
(Zoe is a wonderful name, by the way.)
Peace,
BG
Thank you for the compliment about Zoe. I'm a little partial to it myself. ;)
I just assumed you were using "Zoe's mom" because you felt obligated to since that's how I sign my posts. You are welcome to call me that if you want to but "Jennifer" just seems simpler...haha.
In any case, it's always good to hear from you.
Jen
