I have been a regular listener to contemporary Christian music for a couple of years now. I couldn't pick a favorite song. There are many that are favorites. There is one song that stands out to me. I love it for the lyrics.
The One Thing --- Paul Colman
Here I am
In a river of questions
Can I pour my heart out to a listening ear?
I see this life
Its valley's and mountains
And I think of all the roads that brought me here
I've questioned my reasons
The life I'm living
I've questioned my ability
To judge wrong from right
I've questioned all the things that I've ever called certain
My race, my religion, my country, my mind
But the one thing I don't question is you
You really love me like you say you do
You really love me like you say you do
Hold me Hold me
I've questioned significance
Meaning and relevance
Does the work I'm doing really matter at all?
Well I've questioned my friendships
Alliance, dependence
Who will still be here when I fall?
Only one thing doesn't change
Only one thing stays the same
All I know at the end of the day is your love remains
What are your favorite music lyrics?

My all time favorite song is O Holy Night and I prefer it to be sung by none other than David Phelps. When he hits that operatic note while singing the word "divine" at the end.
Just for fun I thought I would do a search on the lyrics of the song and post them here.
The words and lyrics of the old carol 'O Holy Night' were written by Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure in 1847. Cappeau was a wine seller by trade but was asked by the parish priest to write a poem for Christmas. He obliged and wrote the beautiful words of the hymn. He then realised that it should have music to accompany the words and he approached his friend Adolphe Charles Adams(1803-1856). He agreed and the music for the poem was therefore composed by Adolphe Charles Adams. Adolphe had attended the Paris conservatoire and forged a brilliant career as a composer. It was translated into English by John Sullivan Dwight (1812-1893).
O Holy Night Lyrics
O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
Here is one of favorite current Christian songs. I first heard it at a church I attend here at Cedarville while I go to college. Although for my favorite Christian songs Rich Mullins songs will always be my favorite.
Newsboys - In Christ Alone Lyrics
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my
strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights
of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when
strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in
the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took
on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of
love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to
save
'Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath
of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the
ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He
rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's
curse has lost it's grip on me
For I am His and He is
mine
Brought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of
Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of
man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'Till He
returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ
I'll stand
The last verus where it say "No power of hell, no scheme of man can ever pluck me from his grasp" encourages me that I am God child and nothing can take me away from him! This song encompasses alot of what being a chirstian, Jesus's suffering and triumph over death and sin, and one day he will call us home. Can't to hear the favorite songs of other people.
-Matthew Hoskins
Not familiar with that song, but trying to think of my fav lyrics!

I love modern Christian music - I listen to K-Love everyday. But lately, maybe because of the sentiment of Christmas time, I've been really encouraged by the words of some really old hymns. Here's one of my favorite verses from Isaac Watts' "Jesus Shall Reign"
Blessings abound wherever He reigns;
The prisoner leaps to lose his chains;
The weary find eternal rest,
And all the sons of want are blessed.
"O Night Divine" is my favorite Christmas song. I also enjoy listening to the Newsboys.
Maria, you have a ready-made favorite in Matt Redman, a fellow Englishman. He is a wonderful songwriter.
