The Stone-Campbell Journal Conference

This year's theme: Back Toward the Future: Looking for Theology in the Stone-Campbell Movement

The conference is held on the campus of Cincinnati Christian University. The dates are Friday - Saturday, April 11-12.

I am looking for anyone that might be interested in going with me. The cost is $35, unless you are a Stone-Campbell Journal subscriber, then its $25.

I'll go alone, but it would be more fun if I had some company (Kristine is not exactly excited about the opportunity).

Richard Hughes is one of the key note speakers (also James Duke and Richard Cherok).

Come on, it'll be fun!

I'll bring the beer.

Seriously, will there be food??

Free Stone-Campbell pen / pencil set? Or at least a mug.

There is a reference to refreshments in the atrium, during a couple of breaks.

I think you have to be a presenter to get the Stone-Campbell sweatshirt.

[light just went on!]

We could make (and sell):

"I'm a Stone-Campbell Theologian" t-shirts.

They would be a big hit at a place like this. After all, these are the only people who could truly appreciate the comic irony of claiming to be a S-C theologian.

Historical note to explain above hilarity: Alexander Campbell and most of his early devotees took a very negative view of theology. By theology, they mainly had in mind the systematic theologies of mainline denominations.

With that in mind, one can better appreciate the intrigue of a conference title:

Back Toward the Future: Looking for Theology in the S-C Movement.

Come on, sign-up today....I need some company!

Oh - by the way... this is not a beer crowd -- this is a wine crowd!
