The Men's Gathering was a great success! At least, that is my opinion. There are some great challenges in our near future. There will be significant changes in some of our activities, possibly even in our worship assemblies. The theme was "Moving Toward Excellence". The Elders stood up and leveled the challenge, first, to themselves, then to us. There was a lot of "out of the box" ideas being tossed about. A major building project may be in our near future. More than anything else, I love the spirit of expectancy, the common attitude that great things are in our future. Never before, have I heard that kind of talk from so many in such a public manner. It truly was a watershed event.
The greatest thing of all is faith. Not just personal faiths, but a community-shared faith - a Sunshine faith. The positive expectations are not hinged in ourselves but in God. We are looking to God for direction, energy, and success!
What is your perspective?

I was not able to attend the retreat, but am glad to hear that results are already visable. We need to keep our focus on the task st hand and with prayer great things will happen. It is important that we do the right thing in all that we do. I hope we do not revert to the old C of C way of being so concerned that we do things right that we seldom get anything accompolished.
Our leaders have a vision and have shared it. It is now our responsibility to either follow or get out of the way.
I hope that there will be more of these retreats in the future and that they occur more often that one time per year. Also, it may be good to have similar retreats for the women, young married couples, and new parents.
Thanks for the comments - keep them coming!
I am very, very excited about what is getting started at Sunshine. This has been needed for so long! We are now moving in a direction that I have always envisioned for Sunshine. I'm just thrilled and the excitement of everyone in the congregation about all of this is incredible.
I really hope there are plans to have a large gymnasium with our new church building. I would love to see us have a place for our aerobics and weight lifting class, karate class, hosting our Father/daughter gala as well as a bunch of other activities for the community in that area. There is such an outreach that we can accomplish with such a room as a gymnasium! Boy, you talk about reaching out to the youth!! Just imagine what we could do with Children's Bible Time in the gym.

I too thought the retreat was a success. It will be interesting to see if the wheels that were set in motion continue with the same momentum. I know that with God all things are possible and through prayer and effort great things will come. I am excited. "If we believe, then we can achieve"
