Night Without Vision

A while back, I showed Landon Saunders' Night Without Vision on a series of Wednesday nights. I received a lot of positive feedback then. I just recently showed the video to my Wednesday morning study group. This group consists of folks from differing denominational backgrounds. I have been excited to see them embrace the impetus of Landon's message. One member of the group expressed that this is not a "Church of Christ" message, but one that all Christians need to consider.

I can see my investment and evaluation of this study group growing. The main reason for this is seeing them deeply impacted by a message that has deeply impacted me. By "message," I am not simply referring to "Night Without Vision," but the broader themes with which we have been wrestling the past couple of years.

I cannot overlook the fact that I am finding a greater, more personally meaningful, sense of brotherhood outside the Brotherhood. That is not to suggest that there is anything particularly wrong with Sunshine folks. I do not believe that! However, it seems that I am having trouble finding deep, meaningful connections within. I believe that the connections are very possible.

The problem seems to stem from the busyness of our lives. We are so entrenched in our individual lives that connections are weak and irregular. This calls to mind, yet again, the great challenge of getting smaller in order to get bigger. We must figure this thing out if we are to progress beyond our current state.
