Just a reminder for you all to be praying for me.
Paul decribed the armor of God in Ephesians 6, a passage we are all familiar with:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full
armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For
our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God,
so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and
after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of
truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of
peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you
can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of
salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Then Paul follows this up with a request that I was requesting when I went forward and asked for your prayers yesterday.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and
requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the
saints.
Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
I need your prayers to help me be the kind of Christian I need to be. And I know that you need my prayers, too. Therefore the challenge to earnestly pray for each other so that we can bring about a better congregation that will effectively work in our community.
Last night as I started my prayers, I made out my list of the 10 people I wanted to pray for. My list was too long. So I decided not to count family and close friends that I normally pray for anyway and prayed for them separately. Still too many, so I separated people who were sick into a catagory of "prayers for the sick" and said a prayer for them and went back to my list. Still couldn't get it down to 10 so I settled for 17 and went on with my prayers.
People, we need to be sharing our struggles and praying for each other. We need to light a fire of love that will blaze bright and bold!

Scott,
You are AWESOME and I know GOD thinks so too. Thanks for the reminder that we are not fighting this battle alone, and we have each other to count on. I think John is right in saying this is the next battle our family needs to work on. We need to trust each other to identify our struggles so that we can battle them together instead of assuming we can tackle them on our own. And that starts with me. Thanks again for letting GOD use you in the way he does and for opening up doors we need to walk through together. I am going to work on my list right now. Hope I am part of yours.
Hey Gamppy -- thanks for reminding us that if any change is going to come in our lives it's going to be by God's doing. What a blessing He has giving us in that we can approach Him for one another. You know you're in my prayers. Please remember me in yours.
I really appreciate all of your prayers! I certainly need them. I truely believe one of the greatest things we can do for our congregation and for each other is to pray for one another. I don't know what I need, but God does and He will provide, if I ask.
Aaron and Kim: I love you guys dearly and continually pray for your family.
Taylor: you've been a God send to me! Thanks so much for being a great friend.
Kristin and Jamie: I can't begin to tell what a positive impact the two of you have had on my life, I love you both and Kendall, too.
Dewey: What a great friend you are and I know I can count on you for anything!
You all have been a great, Great, GREAT blessing to me! Keep praying!
My list last night grew from 17 to 55. I just can't limit myself in prayer.
Scott - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you;
For every one that asketh receiveth ; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
I like the challenge that you put before us. Great things are going to happen in our congregation and community. Help is out there if we are committed to prayer and pray for one another. Not only pray for one another but words of encouragement and kindness is needed for everyone- not just those with struggles. God is Love.
I love you and you will be in my prayers. I so admire your commitment to God. Your works are good and God will bless you greatly.
LOVE ONE ANOTHER
