Emotional turn-about

This morning during my drive into town, I had a moment for pause, to reflect on the inherent irony of living.

I'm driving along and am stopped behind a bus. At first I am distracted with various thoughts on my mind, suddenly it occurs to me that I have been sitting here for what seems like 15 minutes. Immediately, I am frustrated and aggravated and am grasping for some means to express my displeasure with this injustice. It's then that I discover that the reason for delay is that this bus is the MR/DD bus headed for the Vern Riffe School. I also remember that not too long ago a levy issue was on the ballot seeking the funds to continue such services like the one in my way. I voted in favor of this levy! And, in case your wondering--I would vote for it again.

It wasn't easy but I managed an emotional turn-about. Instead of frustration and aggravation, I needed to be thankful that such services are continuing in our community. This particular gentleman, being loaded on this bus, has the opportunity to get out of his house in order to socialize, work, and be educated. That is a good thing! A situation from which I can derive joy and contentment, if I can get over myself.

Just a reminder for me to continue fighting to tendency to be so ego-centric.
